Launched in October 2021, the ROCFLY™ G 390 is the world’s first-ever hiking boot to use a Graphene-enhanced cushioned foam, called G-FLY™, The original product brief was to engineer a boot suitable for long day hikes, backpacking expeditions and thru-hiking challenges, such as traversing the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail. Inspiration came from wanting to create a contemporary aesthetic to compliment the innovation that’s packed into the boot. Hike boots often follow a very formulaic design, so we wanted a visual identity that would add freshness and vitality to the market. The distinctive design of the rand overlay adds real dynamism and speed to the aesthetic, and we used colour to further emphasise this.
